With a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s ACC contest versus Miami, Regan Magarity scored the 1,000th point of her career, joining teammate Chanette Hicks and 24 other former Hokies in the 1,000-point club.
Magarity became just the seventh Hokie to record 1,000 career points and 700 rebounds joining; Renee Dennis, Tere Williams, Ieva Kublina, Jenny Root, Erin Gibson and Kerri Gardin.
“Well deserved, I’m very proud of her,” head coach Kenny Brooks said. “It’s a joy to coach her and I’m very happy that she reached this milestone. It’s very special and to be able to do it with multiple games left in her junior year and to have another year, she might be able to cement her name in the record books in a lot of different ways.”
The redshirt junior is averaging 14.2 points per game and 9.6 rebounds during the 2017-18 season. Her 10 double-doubles are tied for the best mark in the conference.
