Hill named to Canada Senior National Team
Hokies' alumna to play in five-game European exhibition series

TORONTO, ON – Recently graduated Virginia Tech women’s basketball guard Samantha Hill has been named to the 2017 Canada Senior National Team roster. The team will travel to Europe for a five-game exhibition series in Spain and France.
The exhibition is part of the Canadian Women’s National Team qualifying cycle for the 2020 Olympics as the team looks to make Tokyo its third consecutive games. Hill was selected to the 12-person roster from a field of 33 following a 10-day assessment camp.
Team Canada, currently sixth in the FIBA World Rankings, will tipoff against second-ranked Spain on May 26 before playing 13th-ranked Japan on the 27th. Canada will also face 27th-ranked Montenegro, No. 3 France and No. 41 Ukraine.
The team will return to Canada to regroup before beginning the second phase of training in June before competing in a 6-game exhibition tournament in China. The final phase of training will be in July when the final roster for the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup will be decided.
