THE HOKIES
Virginia Tech returns 10 players, including four starters from a team that went on a memorable run in the ACC Tournament, defeating NC State in the opening round before moving on to knock off Pitt in the second round. Tech advanced to the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament for the first time in program history before falling to eventual Elite Eight team Florida State.

Vanessa Panousis returns after setting a Virginia Tech single-season three-pointers made record, tallying 77 last year. She led the team in scoring, averaging 13.5 points per game. In addition to Panousis, Rachel Camp, Taijah Campbell, Hannah Young and Sidney Cook all also saw starting time for the Hokies last season. The quartet accounted for more than half of Tech’s total points and rebounds last season. Camp was second on the team in both points and rebounds per game, averaging 11.4 and 5.6, respectively. Campbell led the team with 6.8 rebounds per game.

After being injured early last season, Regan Magarity will back on the court this year. Before being sidelined last year, Magarity was averaging a double-double with 14 points and 10.6 rebounds per game.

Tech also signed Kelly Koshuta, Chanette Hicks and Alana Gilmer who join the team for 2015-16.

THE BLUE HOSE
Presbyterian finished sixth in the Big South last season, tallying a 16-15 overall record while going 10-10 in the league. PC held opponents to 52.0 ppg last season to rank fifth in the NCAA in scorign defense.

The Blue Hose’s Cortney Storey returns to the team after being named the Big South Conference Freshman of the Year. In addition, Presbyterian welcomes back eight letterwinners and four starters. The team was picked to finish seventh in the Big South preseason poll.

THE SERIES
The Hokies lead the series 3-0. Tech’s most recent win over the Blue Hose was two seasons ago in a 55-33 decision at Cassell Coliseum. Campbell recorded a double-double for the Hokies with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Young pulled down 10 boards and Panousis chipped in eight points.
