Rachel Camp also recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, marking the first of the freshman’s career. Regan Magarity also got into the double-digit rebound category with 10 and was just one point shy of being the third Hokie in the double-double category after recording nine against the Hawks.

The Hokies held the Hawks to just 12 points in the opening half, taking a 29-12 lead into the break. Tech maintained its double-digit lead throughout the second half, cruising to the victory. Every start contributed at least three points in the win while the bench accounted for 17 points.

Magarity is leading the Hokies after two games, averaging 17 points and 8.5 rebounds during the opening weekend of the season. Campbell is adding 14.5 ppg and 7.5 rpg while Vanessa Panousis is recording 9.0 ppg and 3.5 rebounds and assists per game.

THE SPARTANS
Norfolk State fell to Morehead State, 83-66 in the team’s season opener on Friday. NSU held the 39-35 advantage at the break, but MSU outscored the Spartans 48-27 in the second half to come away with the win.

Rae Corbo led the Spartans with 23 points. Kayla Roberts and Aiyah Parham added 11 points each. Amber Brown came off the bench to pull down a team-high six rebounds and Ronesia Spicer tallied five. Jazamine Gray handed out seven assists.

Norfolk State was picked to finish eigth in the preseason MEAC poll with Corbo earning preseason All-Conference honors. The Spartans return four starters from last season’s team that finished 12-16 overall and 8-8 in the league to tie for sixth.

THE SERIES
This marks the eighth meeting between Virginia Tech and Norfolk State in women’s basketball. The Hokies hold a 4-3 record over the Spartans in the series and have won the last four meetings. However, the two teams have not met since the 1980-81 season. Tech claimed a 73-37 decision in Blacksburg.

The Hokies moved to 20-4 all-time against teams from the MEAC following Sunday’s win over UMES.

Up Next: The Hokies are back on the road, traveling to Providence, R.I. to face the Friars in a 1 p.m. game on Sunday, Nov. 23 in Alumni Hall. It is the first time since 2004 that the teams have met when both were members of the BIG EAST Conference.
