Hokies sign two in spring class
Tech adds Magarity and Powell for 2014-15

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech head coach Dennis Wolff announced on Wednesday the signing of two to letters of intent for the 2014-15 academic year. Regan Magarity and Dominique Powell will join the Hokies in the Fall 2014.

"We are ecstatic about adding Dominique and Regan to our family here at Virginia Tech,” Wolff said. “Regan is a proven scorer on the international level and will immediately add to our wing depth. Dominique is an experienced forward who has improved every year she has been in college. Her effort and ability to rebound will help us immediately."

Prior to Virginia Tech: Played club basketball for SBBK (Södertälje Basketboll Klubb) from 2011-2014… Earned Swedish All-Star honors in 2010 (u15), 2011 (u16)… Was named Swedish MVP while competing in the u15 and u20 national championships… Member of the u16 national team and was named a Nordic Championship All-Star… Earned MVP honors in 2011 as a member of the national team and was named the top Swedish player by FIBA in the u16 European Championship, earning European All-Star recognition.

Personal: Regan Ayleen Magarity… Born April 30, 1996… Daughter of Bill and Ammi Magarity… Has four siblings Will, Brian, Shawn and Sheila Magarity… Father played basketball at the University of Georgia and was a member of the New York Nets in the ABA before moving to Europe to play professionally for 20 years… Mother played for the Swedish National Team… Brother Will played for the Swedish national teams and was a freshman at Boston College in 2013-14… Has several relatives coaching on the collegiate level: David (uncle) head women’s basketball coach at Army, Maureen (cousin) head women’s basketball coach at New Hampshire, Mark (uncle) head volleyball coach at Philadelphia and Dan Earl (brother-in-law) associate head men’s basketball coach at Navy.

Prior to Virginia Tech: Ranked 26th overall best player and sixth best post player by Collegiate Girls Basketball report in the 2014 junior college class… Ranked ninth best junior college player in the country by the All-Star Girls Report… Named First Team All-Panhandle Conference as a sophomore at Gulf Coast State… Averaged 11 points and 11 rebounds per game, finishing 11th in the country in offensive rebounds for NJCAA Division I and was 14th overall in rebounding… Was second in the nation and Panhandle Conference in blocked shots, averaging 3.5 per game… Was named the team MVP as a junior and senior at Archbishop Carroll High School… Also named MVP while playing for Maryland Ruff Riders AAU team.

Personal: Dominique Cavaughn Powell… Born December 21, 1993… Daughter of LaShaune Powell… has a brother William and a sister Jenee.
