Ugoka named to VaSID All-State First Team
Senior garners more postseason honors

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech senior Uju Ugoka continues to garner postseason honors, having been named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State First Team on Tuesday, as voted on by sports information directors from around the state.

Ugoka claimed a trio of All-ACC accolades for her performance on the court this season as she was named to the Blue Ribbon Panel All-ACC Second Team as well as the Coaches’ All-ACC Second Team. In addition, Ugoka also garnered All-ACC Academic Team honors.

Ugoka, a 6-foot-1 forward from Lagos, Nigeria, led the Hokies all season, averaging 18.4 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. She finished the season ranked eighth in the league in scoring and third in rebounding. This season, Ugoka set a Virginia Tech single-season record with 16 double-doubles on the year and tied the longest streak in program history with six in a row, while ranked 17th in the NCAA in total double-doubles on the season. In addition, Ugoka set the Tech single-season record for field goals made with 213, breaking the previous record of 212 set by Renee Dennis during the 1986-87 season.
