BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech women's basketball team returns to the road following a four game home stand to face No. 24/25 Florida State on Sunday, Jan. 26. Game time is set for 2 p.m. at the Tucker Center and will be broadcast on ESPN3.

The Hokies
In their last game, the Hokies fell to Georgia Tech, 73-52, on Jan. 23 at Cassell Coliseum.

The Hokies took an early lead in a very defensive-minded first half and carried a 25-19 lead into the break. Tech maintained its cushion after halftime, holding a seven-point lead (31-24) after a jumper from Taijah Campbell at the 17:07 mark. However, following the basket, the Yellow Jackets used a 19-5 run to take a 43-36 lead with 9:54 to play. The Hokies did not get closer than five points for the remainder of the contest, as Georgia Tech shot 54.5% (18-33) in the second half to close out the game.

Senior Uja Ugoka again led the Hokie offense on the day, tallying 22 points and 10 rebounds in 32 minutes of play to record her 10th double-double of the season and second in as many games. Campbell chipped in 10 points and seven boards, as well.

Ugoka leads Tech on the season, averaging 20.1 points and 10.3 rebounds. The senior is one of three players in the Atlantic Coast Conference currently averaging a double-double. She is second in the conference in scoring and third in rebounding. Panousis is adding 11.3 points and chipping in 4.6 assists, while Tellier is averaging 11.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.0 assists.

The Seminoles
No. 24/25 Florida State dropped a heartbreaker in its last contest, as the Seminoles fell to third-ranked Duke, 85-77 in overtime on Thursday, Jan. 23 in Tallahassee.

Senior Natasha Howard turned in a fantastic performance for FSU on the evening, racking up 28 points and 22 rebounds in a losing effort. The 22 boards represented the third-most in a single game in Seminole history.

Howard has led the way all year for FSU, as she is currently averaging 18.1 points and 9.5 rebounds per game, both tops on the team. Morgan Jones averages 14.0 points, while Brittany Brown in chipping in 10.2 points per game. Yashiro Delgado is providing 6.3 assists per contest, while Ivey Slaughter is pulling down 8.3 rebounds.

The Series
The Seminoles hold a 21-10 lead in the all-time series between the two teams, though Virginia Tech claimed the last meeting between the teams, a 71-51 win in Blacksburg last season. In that contest, Tellier led the way with 24 points, while Ugoka added 21 of her own to go with a team-high 12 rebounds.

That victory, late in the 2012-13 season, represents the Hokies’ last victory over a nationally-ranked foe.

Up Next: The Hokies will head to South Bend, Ind. for a matchup with ACC-newcomer Notre Dame, an opponent that Tech hasn’t faced since the 2003-04 season when both were members of the Big East Conference.
