Women's basketball adds one more for 2013-14
Maddison Penn commits to Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech head coach Dennis Wolff announced the addition of guard Maddison Penn for the 2013-14 academic year. She joins five players that previously committed to Tech.

“Maddison is a very skilled perimeter player with a scorer’s mentality,” said Wolff. “Her shooting ability will help our team immensely. We are thrilled to welcome Maddi to the Hokie family.”

Penn, a 6-0 guard from Sydney, Australia, is a member of the Australian U19 National Team which won a gold medal in 2012 at the FIBA Oceania Championships. In addition, Penn was selected to represent Australia in the 2013 Tour of China and Tour of France. Penn competed for Pymble Ladies College where she helped capture the national title in 2011 and helped the team to a second place finish in 2010.

Penn also represented New South Wales from 2008-13, helping the national team to the bronze medal in 2012 and 2013. She was named the MVP of the NSW Championships in 2011.

In addition to basketball, Penn competed for Pymble in rowing, winning a silver and bronze medal at the Australian Championships.

Penn joins Tara Nahodil, Vanessa Panousis, Serafina Maulupe, Samantha Hill and Breanna Brown, who all previously committed.
