BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech women's basketball team will open 2013 traveling to in-state, ACC rival Virginia on Thursday, Jan. 3. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville.

The Hokies
- Virginia Tech defeated Hampton 55-45 the last time out.
- The Hokies were led by Monet Tellier with 14 points, six rebounds, two assists and a steal. Alyssa Fenyn added 11 points, four boards, two assists and a steal. Freshman Lauren Evans added nine points and three steals.
- Tellier has been solid for the Hokies all season, averaging 12.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. Alyssa Fenyn is adding 8.3 ppg and handing out 3.6 apg. Taijah Campbell is posting 6.0 ppg while recording 6.2 rpg and posting 1.4 blocks per game. Ugoka put up 38 points and grabbed 20 rebounds in her first two games for Tech, averaging 19.0 points and 10.0 rebounds. Ugoka was rested in the game against Hampton, recovering from a slight injury.

The Cavaliers
- Virginia defeated Xavier, 54-45 in the team’s last game.
- Four players hit double-digits for the ‘Hoos with Ataira Franklin leading the way with 12. Sarah Imovbioh added 11 points and 10 rebounds. Telia McCall and Kelsey Wolfe had 10 points each. China Crosby dished out eight assists in the game.
- Franklin leads UVa on the season, averaging 12.0 points per game. Imovbioh is adding 11.4 points while pulling down 6.9 rebounds per game. Wolfe is posting 11.0 ppg. McCall is grabbing a team-high 7.8 rebounds per game.
- Virginia opened ACC play against then-No. 9 Maryland, falling to the Terps, 79-55 in College Park.
