GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech junior forward Uju Ugoka was named the ACC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after scoring 28 points on 72.2 percent from the field in the Hokies’ 73-52 win over Wake Forest. It was announced on Monday by the league office and voted on by the Blue Ribbon Panel.

The game marked Ugoka’s debut as a Hokie. She set a Cassell Coliseum record for most points scored against an ACC opponent and was one basket shy of tying the coliseum record for most field goals made after dropping in 13-of-18. In addition, Ugoka grabbed a game-high tying eight rebounds and secured a pair of steals.

This marks the first player of the week honors for Ugoka and the first for the Hokies this season.
