Fairfax, Va. (Patriot Center) - 959 High Points: 19 - Lindsay Biggs High Rebounds: 7 - Brittany Gordon Box Score

FAIRFAX, Va. – Virginia Tech’s Lindsay Biggs had the hot hand from 3-point land on Sunday afternoon, hitting 5-of-6 from the beyond the arc to tally a career-high 19 points and lead the Hokies to a 69-52 victory over George Mason at the Patriot Center.

The win, Tech’s first road game of the season, improved the Hokies to 4-0 on the young season and 4-2 all-time against the Patriots. George Mason fell to 0-4 with the loss.

“Well, we are 4-0,” Tech head coach Beth Dunkenberger said after the win. “I thought we were a little sloppy today (each team turned the ball over 24 times), but when you go on the road and leave with a win, you’ve got to be happy.

“I liked our effort and I think we’re getting people involved. We’re getting our young kids some minutes and different people are stepping up.”

Biggs, a junior guard, hit 7-of-11 from the field overall to help the Hokies to a shooting percentage of 44.6 for the game. It was the third time in four games this season that Biggs set a career high in points, and she is now averaging 13.5 points per contest.

“We were shooting a lot this morning at shoot-around,” Biggs said after the game. “I was getting my feet set and I was really liking the rims, so my teammates got me the ball really well and it all worked out for me today.”

Not only were Biggs’ 19 points a personal best, but so were her five treys, which improved upon her previous high of three. In fact, the Midlothian, Va., product shot up Tech’s career charts with her performance, and she now sits in seventh place on the school’s all-time 3-pointers made list with 68. She entered the game outside of the top 10 with 63.

Biggs wasn’t the only one to contribute, though, as every player who dressed for the Hokies scored, making it the third game in a row that had happened. Utahya Drye added 13 points to notch double figures for the fourth time this season, while adding six rebounds. Laura Haskins also had a nice all-around game, tallying nine points, six assists and five steals. Junior Lakeisha Logan tallied seven points on the day and now has a total of 48 on the season, which already surpasses her total of 43 from her first two seasons combined.

The Hokies continued to play stellar defense, as they made 10 steals and blocked four shots, all while limiting the Patriots to 33.3 percent shooting on the day. Tech had now held all four of its opponents under 34 percent shooting this season.

Brittany Eley led Mason with 15 points, while Brittney Wilkins added 12 and Brittany Poindexter grabbed a dozen rebounds.

The Hokies’ next action comes on Friday at 5 p.m. EST against St. Joseph’s in the Vanderbilt Thanksgiving Tournament in Nashville, Tenn. Tech will then either play Davidson or Vanderbilt on Saturday at 3 or 5 p.m.
