Owens and Mitchell named to All-ACC Academic Volleyball Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Senior Lindsey Owens and redshirt sophomore Rhegan Mitchell represent the Virginia Tech volleyball program on this year’s All-ACC Academic Team, the conference announced Thursday.

Owens, a biology major, has been named to the All-Academic teams three times in her four-year career while Mitchell, a human nutrition, food and exercise science major, has been named to the squad for the second time.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

Owens finished her career in Blacksburg with over 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs, one of only 11 players in program history to reach both of those milestones. Despite missing a majority of the season due to injury, Mitchell came on at the end of last season to average 10.75 assists per set.
