BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech volleyball seniors Lindsey Owens and Amanda McKinzie have been named to the 2016 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Volleyball University Division All-State team, the organization announced on Monday.
McKinize was tabbed to the second team while Owens was named first team all-state for the third time in her career. This season, Owens and McKinzie became the sixth and seventh players in program history, respectively, to go over 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in a career.
Owens was named first team All-ACC on Nov. 28 after finishing sixth in the conference with 3.50 kills per set and hitting .251 with 4.07 points per set in conference matches. The Orlando native finished 2016 with 15 double-doubles and four 20+ kill performances.
McKinzie ranked second on the team with 3.05 kills per set and 22 service aces while leading the Hokies with a .949 serve receive percentage. She registered 14 double-doubles on the season and was one of only two players on the team to start in all 31 matches.
