Nine volleyball matches available via broadcast this fall
Fans can tune in on ESPN3 and HokiesXtra

BLACKSBURG, Va. – A minimum of nine Virginia Tech volleyball matches will be broadcast via television or online this season, as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference as part of the fall 2015 Olympic sports schedule.

Hokie fans can watch six matches on ESPN3, in addition to three on HokiesXtra, the department’s in-house online broadcast. There is the potential for broadcasts by non-conference opponents, but they have yet to be announced.

“We’re thrilled we have this many games aired,” head coach Chris Riley said. “I think we are an exciting and pretty young team, but we’re going to be energetic and fun to watch. The more opportunities we get to put our Virginia Tech product in front of our fans, the happier we are when we get a chance to do that.”

The six ESPN3 matches are as follows: Sept. 30 vs. Pittsburgh, Oct. 16 vs. Clemson, Oct. 18 vs. Georgia Tech, Oct. 25 at Duke, Oct. 30 vs. Miami, and Nov. 1 vs. Florida State. HokiesXtra will broadcast each Virginia Tech match of the Hokie Invitational, one Sept. 18 vs. Middle Tennessee and two Sept. 19 vs. Chattanooga and Liberty. All home matchups this season are slated for Cassell Coliseum.

The team returns to campus for a preseason meeting on Aug. 9 and begins practice the following day. Tech opens the season hosting the Radford University/Virginia Tech Invitational Aug. 28-29.

The Hokies are looking to build on last year’s campaign as they finished sixth in the ACC with a 10-8 record and 17-14 overall mark, narrowly missing out on the postseason.
