BLACKSBURG – Fifteen home matches, including two home tournaments, plus 19 matches in the ACC highlight the 2015 Virginia Tech volleyball schedule, as announced on Wednesday.
The schedule features six matches against teams that made the 2014 NCAA Tournament, including Duke, Florida State, Miami, North Carolina, LIU Brooklyn and Michigan State.
Virginia Tech opens the season Aug. 28-29, hosting a tournament in conjunction with Radford. Joining the Hokies and Highlanders in the NRV are ETSU, LIU Brooklyn and Elon.
The Hokies will take to the road the following two weekends, beginning with a tournament, Sept. 4-5 in East Lansing, Mich. where Tech will face Miami (OH), Butler and host-team Michigan State. On Sept. 11-12, the Hokies will make the trip to Bloomington, Ind. for the Indiana Invitational and will play the host-team on the opening day. Tech will follow that up with matches against Northern Arizona and Bowling Green.
Tech will be back in Cassell Coliseum for the Hokie Invitational Sept. 18-19. The Hokies will face Middle Tennessee on the first day before playing Liberty and Chattanooga on Saturday.
Virginia Tech will open the ACC slate on Sept. 25, hosting North Carolina on Friday and NC State on Sunday.
The remaining ACC home games for the Hokies include Pittsburgh (Sept. 30), Clemson (Oct. 16), Georgia Tech (Oct. 18), Miami (Oct. 30), Florida State (Nov. 1), Syracuse (Nov. 20) and Boston College (Nov. 22).
On the road in the league, Tech will square off against Virginia (Oct. 4), Boston College (Oct. 9), Syracuse (Oct. 11), Wake Forest (Oct. 23), Duke (Oct. 25), Notre Dame (Nov. 6), Louisville (Nov. 8), NC State (Nov. 13), North Carolina (Nov. 15) and Pittsburgh on Nov. 25.
Virginia Tech will wrap up the regular season at home, hosting rival Virginia on Nov. 28 in Cassell Coliseum.
