GREENSBORO, N.C. – Seniors Megan Beckwith, Kathryn Caine and Jordan Fish along with sophomore Lindsey Owens were named to the All-ACC Academic Volleyball Team as announced on Wednesday by Commissioner John Swofford.

Beckwith earns her first conference academic honors as a Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise major. The libero topped the 1,500-career dig mark this season, finishing her career with 1,747 digs. Beckwith tallied double-digit digs 24 times this season including a pair of matches with 20 or more.

Caine picks up her second academic honor as a marketing major after earning accolades last season. The middle blocker/right side was named to the All-ACC First Team, AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention Team as well as the VaSID All-State Second Team. She averaged 2.31 kills per set while hitting .302 on the attack. She finished her 4-years ranked fifth in the Virginia Tech record book in career hitting percentage, .318. Caine posted double-digit kills 15 times in this season and had a career-high 18 at Clemson.

Fish is also appearing on the academic team for the second time and will earn her degree in Human Development. The setter finished career fifth on the Tech assists record list with 3,520. She recorded 20 or more assists in 26 matches this season, including six matches with 30 or more while running a two-setter offense. In addition, Fish had at least 20 assists in 17 of 18 ACC matches. Her season-high came with 37 in the Hokies' win versus No. 12 Illinois.

Owens earns her second academic recognition in as many seasons as a biology major. The outside hitter was named All-ACC First Team and led the Hokies, averaging 3.42 kills per set (10th in the ACC). Owens had double-digit kills 23 times, including four matches with 20 or more. She tallied a career-high with 26 at Louisville. In addition, Owens was strong on the defensive side with 312 digs and 75 blocks and had a double-double in 14 matches.

Thirteen of the ACC’s schools are represented on this year’s All-ACC Academic Team, led by Duke with five honorees. Florida State and Virginia Tech have four student-athletes recognized, while Georgia Tech and Louisville have three representatives. Clemson, Miami and Wake Forest have two members, while Boston College, NC State, Pitt and Syracuse all have one student-athlete apiece.

In addition to the 2014 Scholar Athlete of the Year Savannah Leaf (Miami), All-ACC Academic team members who also earned All-ACC honors this past season include Clemson’s Karis Watson, Duke’s Jeme Obeime, Kelsey Williams, Emily Sklar, Jordan Tucker and Sasha Karelov, Florida State’s Milica Kubura, Katie Mosher and Nicole Walch, Louisville’s Katie George, Janelle Jenkins and Maggie DeJong, Miami’s Emani Sims, North Carolina’s Paige Neuenfeldt, NC State’s Kaitlyn Kearney, Pitt’s Kate Yeazel, and Virginia Tech’s Kathryn Caine and Lindsey Owens.

The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards were established in September 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports. Candidates for the awards must have maintained a 3.0 grade point average for their career as well as a 3.0 for each of the last two semesters.

To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
