BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech volleyball team will travel to Chapel Hill, North Carolina to take on the eighth-ranked Tar Heels on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. in Carmichael Arena.

THE HOKIES (11-13, 4-7 ACC)
Virginia Tech is coming of a hard-fought 3-2 win over No. 21 Duke. Lindsey Owens led four Hokies in double-digit kills with 12. Kathryn Caine and LaTasha Samson-Akpan added 11 each and Ashley Battle posted 10.
Owens leads Tech on the season, averaging 3.32 kills per set. Caine is adding 2.40 and Amanda McKinzie is knocking down 1.97 kps. Jordan Fish and Kyra Coundourides run the offense, putting up 6.34 and 4.53 assists per set, respectively.
On the defensive side, Megan Beckwith leads the backcourt with 3.41 digs per set and Battle has been strong at the net all season, recording 113 blocks for 1.19 per set.
THE TAR HEELS (19-2, 10-1 ACC)
North Carolina defeated Boston College 3-0 on Friday. Victoria McPherson tallied 12 kills to lead the Heels over the Eagles.
Chaniel Nelson leads UNC, knocking down 2.85 kps while Leigh Andrew is adding 2.75 kps. Lauren McAdoo is chipping in 2.61 kps. The Tar Heels split time at the setter spot with Jordyn Schnabl putting up 6.22 aps and Abigail Curry notching 4.90 aps.
In the backcourt Ece Tanner leads the Heels on the defensive side, recording 4.24 dps. UNC has four players tallying more than one block per set and are led by Paige Neuenfeldt with 1.44 and McPherson with 1.43 bps.
UP NEXT
The Hokies will be back on the court on Friday, Nov. 14 when Tech makes the trip to Charlottesville to face rival Virginia in a 7 p.m. match.
