Hokies travel to Wake Forest for ACC opener
Match time is set for 6:30 p.m. at Reynolds Gym

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech volleyball team will open the ACC slate on Friday, Sept. 26 at Wake Forest. Match time is slated for 6:30 p.m. at Reynolds Gym in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

THE HOKIES (7-6)
Virginia Tech swept all three matches last weekend to win the Hokie Invitational. Lindsey Owens was named tournament MVP while Kathryn Caine and Ashley Battle earned spots on the All-Tournament team.

Owens is averaging 3.5 kills per set to lead the Hokies on the season. Caine is adding 2.43 while Amanda McKinzie is knocking down 2.24 kps. Splitting time at the setter spot are Jordan Fish and Kyra Coundourides who are putting up 6.54 and 4.76 aps, respectively.

On the defensive side, Battle is recording 1.11 blocks per set at the net, and Megan Beckwith is posting 3.15 digs per set in the back court.

THE DEMON DEACONS (10-4)
Wake Forest went 2-1 in the Deacon Classic last weekend, defeating Western Carolina and Elon on Saturday after falling to Winthrop on Friday. Jazmen Russell and Caroline Wolf earned All-Tournament honors.

Russell leads the Deacs on the season with 4.52 kps while Matalee Reed is adding 2.57 and Kylie Long is posting 2.22 kps. Danae Rosendall is putting up 9.85 aps.

Wolf leads Wake on the defensive side with 4.31 dps. Ashlee Rusk has recorded 50 blocks on the season.

THE SERIES
The Hokies lead the series 27-11 all time. Tech has won the past two meetings, including a 3-1 match last season in Winston-Salem. Owens had 11 kills and 13 digs for the Hokies. Reed led Wake with 11 kills.

UP NEXT
Tech returns home to host ACC newcomer Louisville on Friday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. The Hokies will also host NC State on Saturday at 6 p.m.
