“We played a great match,” said head coach Chris Riley. “I think offensively we were very good. Lindsey [Owens] was really on top of her game both offensively and defensively. She was tough to stop. We beat a very good team in UNC Wilmington tonight.”

The second set played out much differently from the first as UNCW took the 13-10 lead at the midpoint. The Seahawks again claimed the lead and was up 24-22, but the Hokies scored on back-to-back rallies, tying it up at 24 off a kill from McKinzie. The two teams were tied again at 25, but Tech kill from McKinzie followed by one from Katie Krueger gave the Hokies the points for the 27-25 win.

In the final set, the Hokies got out to the lead, going up 13-10. UNCW kept it close and trailed by three at 15-12, but the Hokies went on a tear, outscoring the Seahawks 12-2 over the final rallies of the set to take the set 25-14 and the match 3-0.

Nicole Lott led the Seahawks (9-3) with eight kills while Morgan Kline added seven. Morgan Owney tallied 13 digs on the defensive side.
