BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech volleyball team will take to the road for a Sunday afternoon match against in-state rival Virginia. Match time is slated for 3 p.m. at Memorial Gymnasium in Charlottesville, Va.

The Hokies
▪ Virginia Tech fell to Notre Dame on the road 3-1 in the team's last outing in a midweek contest in South Bend.
▪ Lindsey Owens tallied 19 kills and 10 digs against the Irish to record her seventh double-double of the season. Samantha Gostling had 15 kills and Victoria Hamsher recorded 14.
▪ Owens is averaging 2.94 kps while Gostling is notching 2.78 kps to lead Virginia Tech on the season. Hamsher (2.62), Kathryn Caine (2.42) and Kennedy Bryan (2.22) are also averaging more than two kills per set. Hamsher is tops in the ACC and ranks 19th in the NCAA with a hitting percentage of .412. Jordan Fish is putting up 11.12 assists for the offense to rank third in the ACC.
▪ Owens has been strong for the Hokies on the serve, averaging 0.43 aces per set to top the ACC and rank 17th in the NCAA standings.
▪ On the defensive side, LaTasha Samson-Akpan is tallying 1.08 blocks per set. Megan Beckwith is averaging 4.05 digs per set, good for eighth in the league.

Scouting the Cavaliers
▪ UVa defeated Notre Dame 3-0 on Friday in South Bend.
▪ Natalie Bausback led the Cavaliers against the Irish with 17 kills and Tori Janowski added 12 while Haley Kole tallied 10.
▪ Janowski leads UVa with 3.70 kps, while Haley Kole is talling 3.42 kps and Jasmine Burton is adding 2.91 kps on the season. Lauren Fuller is putting up 11.28 assists per set.
▪ Defensively, the Cavaliers are averaging 2.11 blocks per set as a team. Emily Rottman is picking up 4.19 digs per set.

The Series
▪ The all-time series marks the longest-running continuous series in program history, with the two teams meeting at least once every year since 1979. UVa took the slight one match lead (31-30) in the series earlier this season with a 3-1 win in Blacksburg.
▪ Virginia Tech is 9-18 in Charlottesville, but have won the past three on the road.
▪ Bryan tallied 11 kills for the Hokies with Hamsher adding 10. Kole and Burton posted 23 and 20 kills, respectively, while Janowski added 15.

Up Next: The Hokies will return home to wrap up the regular season, hosting Maryland on Friday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. in Cassell Coliseum. Tech will face Pittsburgh on Saturday, Nov. 30 in a 7 p.m. match at Cassell.
