BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech volleyball team will have a short week as the Hokies take to the road for a midweek match at Notre Dame on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. in South Bend, Ind.

The Hokies
▪ Virginia Tech defeated NC State, 3-0 after falling to No. 15 North Carolina 3-0 over the weekend.
▪ The win over the Wolfpack marked the first time the Hokies have tallied 21 wins in a season since finishing the 1998 campaign with a 21-9 record.
▪ Victoria Hamsher tallied nine kills, hitting .474, against the Wolfpack while Lindsey Owens added eight kills. Samantha Gostling posted nine kills versus the Tar Heels.
▪ Owens is averaging 2.86 kps while Gostling is notching 2.78 kps to lead Virginia Tech on the season. Hamsher (2.59), Kathryn Caine (2.43) and Kennedy Bryan (2.22) are also averaging more than two kills per set. Hamsher is tops in the ACC and ranks 19th in the NCAA with a hitting percentage of .410. Fish is putting up 11.03 assists for the offense to rank third in the ACC.
▪ Owens has been strong for the Hokies on the serve, averaging 0.44 aces per set to top the ACC and rank 17th in the NCAA standings.
▪ On the defensive side, LaTasha Samson-Akpan is tallying 1.08 blocks per set. Megan Beckwith is averaging 4.09 digs per set, good for eighth in the league.

Scouting the Fighting Irish
▪ Notre Dame fell to Miami and Florida State last week with scores of 3-0 in both matches.
▪ Jeni Houser had 11 kills against the Hurricanes and Nicole Smith led the Irish against the Seminoles with nine kills.
▪ Toni Alugbue leads the Irish on the season with 2.89 kills per set. Houser is adding 2.57 kps and Smith is tallying 2.17 kps. Maggie Brindock is putting up 8.97 assists per set.
▪ On the defensive side, Andrea McHugh is notching 3.28 digs per set and Houser is averaging 0.97 blocks.

The Series
▪ The series is tied at 2-2. Virginia Tech evened the record earlier this season with a 3-1 win over the Irish in Blacksburg.
▪ Owens led the Hokies with 17 kills while Caine added 16. Andie Olsen and Houser led Notre Dame with eight kills each.

Up Next: The Hokies will remain on the road traveling to in-state ACC rival Virginia on Sunday, Nov. 24. Match time is slated for 3 p.m. at Memorial Gymnasium.
