BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech volleyball team takes to the road for a pair of ACC matches, traveling to Maryland for a 7 p.m. match on Friday, Sept. 28 before making the trip to Chestnut Hill, Mass. to face Boston College on Sunday, Sept. 30 at noon. Tech's match at Maryland will be available for viewing via livestats and TerpsTV Premium All-Access. Sunday's match will be available on live stats.

The Hokies
- Tech swept Miami 3-0 on Sunday, Sept. 23 at Cassell Coliseum. On Friday, the Hokies were edged by #15 Florida State, 3-2.
- Samantha Gostling led the Hokies with 24 kills. Against the Seminoles, Gostling recorded her second double-double of the season with 13 kills and 12 digs.
- Jennifer Wiker and Cara Baarendse added 21 kills each on the weekend. Baarendse hit for .372 including a .500 clip against the Hurricanes.
- Gostling is leading the Hokies with 3.41 kills per set while Wiker is adding 3.26. Jordan Fish is notching an ACC-best 11.59 assists per set. In addition, Fish ranks 17th in the NCAA in assists per set.
- On the defensive side, Victoria Hamsher is recording 1.08 blocks per set and Morgan O'Neill is averaging 4.10 digs per set, ranking seventh in the league.
- The Hokies are leading the ACC and are 13th in the NCAA in team attack percentage at .291. Tech has three players ranked in the top five in the league and top-40 in the country for individual percentage with Cara Baarendse (.431, 2nd ACC/13th NCAA), Victoria Hamsher (.413, 3rd ACC/15th NCAA) and Kathryn Caine (.389, 5th ACC/34th NCAA).

Scouting the Terrapins
- Maryland fell to Georgia Tech, 3-0 the last time out. Mary Cushman and Ashleigh Crutcher had six kills each. Remy McBain put up 11 assists and Sarah Harper recorded 12 digs.
- Crutcher leads the Terps on the season, averaging 3.29 kills per set. Cushman is adding 2.78 while Adreene Elliott is tallying 2.71 kps. Splitting time at the setter spot, McBain and Mackenzie Dagostino are averaging 6.21 and 5.12 assists per set, respectively.
- On the defensive side, Elliott is posting 1.23 blocks per set and Harper is notching 3.88 digs per set.

The Series
- This is the 18th time the two teams have met. Maryland holds the slight 9-8 lead in the series, but the Hokies won the most recent meeting, 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-20) on Nov. 11, 2011 in Blacksburg. Jennifer Wiker tallied 16 kills for the Hokies. Top returner from the game for the Terps is Mary Cushman who posted six kills.
- The Hokies also won last season's meeting in College Park when Tech rallied to defeat Maryland, 3-2 (22-25, 25-27, 25-22, 25-16, 15-10). Wiker also tallied 16 kills in that match while Cushman added 16 for the Terps.

Scouting the Eagles
- Boston College will face Virginia on Thursday, Sept. 27 before hosting the Hokies on Sunday, Sept. 30 at noon. The Eagles fell to Clemson 3-0 last weekend. Katty Workman led BC with 17 kills
- Workman leads the Eagles with 4.00 kills per set. Courtney Castle is adding 3.35 kps. Cagla Sen is putting up 7.87 assists per set and Kellie Barnum is posting 6.03 aps.
- Defensively, Castle is averaging 3.39 digs per set. Krystle Higgins is notching 1.00 blocks per set.

The Series
- Virginia Tech holds the all-time series record at 10-6 and has won six of the past seven meetings between the two teams. The Hokies won the last match-up on Nov. 12, 2011 with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-17) victory at Cassell Coliseum. Jennifer Wiker knocked down nine kills in the win while BC's Krystle Higgins tallied eight.
- Boston College claimed the last meeting in Chestnut Hill on Sept. 29, 2011, defeating the Hokies 3-0 (27-25, 25-18, 25-18). Samantha Gostling led the Hokies with 12 kills. Top returner from the match for the Eagles is Higgins who tallied nine kills.
