BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech volleyball team will open its home ACC schedule on Friday, Sept. 21 in a 7 p.m. match against 15th-ranked Florida State. The match against the Seminoles will be available for viewing online via Hokies All-Access (subscription based). On Sunday, the Hokies will host Miami in a 1 p.m. match. Both matches will be played at Cassell Coliseum and can be followed on live stats.

The Hokies
- Tech opened the ACC slate last weekend with a 3-0 sweep of rival Virginia on the road. The Hokies also secured a 3-1 win against Liberty at the Marriott Cavalier Classic.
- Samantha Gostling led the Hokies on the weekend with 30 kills, averaging 4.29 per set and hitting for .347. Against the Flames, Gostling recorded her first career double-double with 21 kills and 10 digs. She also tallied four aces in the two-match span. Jennifer Wiker had 22 kills and Cara Baarendse added 19 on .531 hitting percentage over the weekend.
- Gostling is leading the Hokies with 3.49 kills per set while Wiker is adding 3.38. Jordan Fish is notching an ACC-best 11.73 assists per set. In addition, Fish ranks 13th in the NCAA in assists per set.
- On the defensive side, Victoria Hamsher is recording 1.03 blocks per set and Morgan O'Neill is averaging 4.03 digs per set, ranking sixth in the league.
- The Hokies are leading the ACC and are eighth in the NCAA in team attack percentage with .314.Tech has three players ranked in the top five in the league and top-20 in the country for individual percentage with Victoria Hamsher (.455, 1st ACC/9th NCAA), Cara Baarendse (.445, 2nd ACC/12th NCAA) and Kathryn Caine (.413, 5th ACC/20th NCAA).

Scouting the Seminoles
- FSU defeated No. 21 Ohio State, 3-1 the last time out. Fatma Yildirim knocked down 20 kills while Olivera Medic added a double-double with 13 kills and 14 digs.
- Yildirim leads the Seminoles on the season, averaging 3.24 kills per set. Duygu Duzceler and Sarah Wickstrom split time in the setter spot with 5.94 and 5.40 assists per set, respectively.
- On the defensive side, Katie Mosher is posting 4.41 digs per set and Ashley Neff is notching an ACC leading 1.60 blocks per set.

The Series
- This is the 29th time the two teams have met. Florida State leads the series 25-3 and won the most recent meeting, 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-12) on Oct. 28, 2011 in Tallahassee. Cara Baarendse led the Hokies with 10 kills. Top returner from the game for the Seminoles is Elise Walch who tallied 10 kills.

FSU has won four of the past five meetings between the two teams. The Hokies' last victory came on Oct. 29, 2010 when Tech secured the 3-2 (25-15, 27-25, 20-25, 23-25, 15-13) win in Blacksburg.

Scouting the Hurricanes
- Miami fell to No. 12 Louisville, 3-1 in the team's last outing. Four Hurricanes hit in double-digits with Kelsie Groot's 15 kills leading the way. Taylor Hollins added 13 while Alexis Mourning and Emani Sims had 12 and 10 kills, respectively.
- Hollins leads the Hurricanes with 3.69 kills per set. Mourning is tallying 2.8 kps. Nrithya Sundararaman is putting up 11.38 assists per set.
- Defensively, Ryan Shaffer is averaging 4.83 digs per set. Mourning is posting 1.28 blocks per set with Sims is adding 1.05.
- The Hurricanes opened ACC play on Sept. 7 against the Seminoles, picking up a 3-1 (18-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-18) win against league rivals.

The Series
- Miami has a 13-5 all-time record against the Hokies, and picked up a 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-19) win the last time the two teams met on Oct. 30, 2011 in Coral Gables. Cara Baarendse led the Hokies with 13 kills. Emani Sims is the top returner from the game with nine kills.

Tech's last win against the Hurricanes was on Sept. 27, 2009 when the Hokies claimed a 3-2 (27-29, 25-21, 22-25, 29-27, 15-11) victory. Miami has won the past five meetings between the two teams.
