GREENSBORO, N.C. – Junior middle blocker Cara Baarendse was named to the 2011 All-ACC Volleyball Team for the second consecutive season, as announced the Atlantic Coast Conference Wednesday morning. Nine different teams were represented in this year’s selections, with five schools earning three picks each.

Miami’s Lane Carico was named Player of the Year, while Duke’s Ali McCurdy earned Defensive Player of the Year honors and North Carolina’s Cameron Can Noy garnered Freshman of the Year accolades. Florida State’s Chris Poole was named the ACC Coach of the Year.

Baarendse leads the team this season with 312 kills (2.69/s), good for a .294 hitting percentage. The Mason, Ohio native recently put an end to an eight-match double-digit kills streak, while also pacing the squad with 19 double digit kills matches this season. Baarendse’s 217 digs (1.87/s) have helped her to seven double-digit digs matches, as well as six double-doubles in her third season as a Hokie.

Baarendse and the Hokies will close out the regular season Friday, Nov. 25 as they travel to Virginia for a 7 p.m. match at Memorial Gym on the Cavaliers’ campus.
