Three Hokies garner VaSID all-state accolades
Willoughby records first-team honors

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Junior Felicia Willoughby as well as sophomores Erin Leaser and Justine Record all received VaSID all-state honors for volleyball, the state's Sports Information Directors announced on Monday.

Willoughby received first-team accolades after leading the Hokies in blocks and ranking second on the squad in kills on the year. The Pleasanton, Calif., native earned 332 kills and 139 blocks in 2009, and collected All-ACC honors for a third consecutive season and AVCA All-East Region recognition for a second straight year. Willoughby averaged 1.17 blocks per set, ranking third in the conference.

Leaser and Record both garnered spots on the all-state second team. Leaser was named VaSID Rookie of the Year and tallied second-team honors in 2008, while Record earned all-state status for the first time in her career. Leaser dished out 1,335 assists on the year and ranked second in the ACC with 11.22 assists per set. Record registered 333 kills and 53 service aces last season to lead the Hokies. Her 0.45 service aces per set was the second-highest in the league.
