Willoughby named AVCA All-East Region
The junior becomes the first Hokie to win the award in consecutive years
BLACKSBURG, Va. – For the second consecutive year, junior Felicia Willoughby received AVCA All-East Region honors, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced on Wednesday, marking the first time a Tech volleyball player has ever notched All-Region honors in two straight years.
The Pleasanton, Calif., native is one of six players on the All-East Region squad to earn the award multiple times, and is one of only two non-seniors to do so.
Willoughby, who led the Hokies with 332 kills and 139 blocks on the season, earned All-ACC recognition for the third straight year this season, another Hokie first. She averaged 1.17 blocks per set in 2009, which ranked third in the ACC.
