Lindsey Owens was named PrepVolleyball.com’s 2012 National Player of the Year after leading her team, Bishop Moore High School, to a top-15 national finish and the Florida State 4A Title. This marks Owens’ second national honor as she was also tabbed the MaxPreps Medium Schools National Player of the Year. In addition to being tabbed the Florida 4A Player of the Year as well as the overall Florida Player of the Year, Owens was the Florida Gatorade Player of the Year and named the state’s Miss Volleyball.
Bishop Moore finished the season 32-0 and defeated nationally-ranked Lake Highland four times, Florida 3A champions, The First Academy; the Florida 7A champions, Venice; the Florida 8A runner-up, Winter Park; and Georgia 6A champions, Walton. The 6-1 outside hitter averaged 5.2 kills per set and led the team in digs and passing efficiency in the Hornets’ impressive season.
