The first road trip

Hey Everyone,

This past weekend we had four very tough matches against Austin Peay, Middle Tennessee, North Dakota, and UAB. We knew coming into this tournament that these teams were not going to be easy starting with the six hour bus ride to Middle Tennessee.

Once we got far enough on the road we all knew a movie was much needed, so we all agreed on the Lion King. Yes, the Disney film; always a classic. I fell asleep within minutes of turning it on because I knew that was the only way to make the bus ride feel shorter. As we got later on in the night, some of us started to wake up and feel a little hyper and we decided to make a fort in the back of the bus. We got strobe lights off our phones going and music playing. It was definitely a good way to pass the time.

Next day we had two big matches against Austin Peay and MT and we knew that we had to come out with a lot of energy to compete with our components. We beat Austin Peay in three, but it was not easy and we knew what we had to do to go out strong against MT, especially since it was their home. The first game was very close but we pulled out a win and stayed strong the rest of the match beating them in three games.

Last day of the tournament we played North Dakota and UAB, both very excellent teams. Excitingly, we beat North Dakota in three. Everyone was playing excellent and with high energy, which always makes the game more fun. Then the final match-up between two undefeated teams, VT and UAB, began and we started off very rocky, losing the first set. We won the second and during the time out I knew we had this game! Everyone began to get hungry to win this game. UAB is a very good offensive and defensive team and after working hard all preseason, we knew we could beat them. We won the third game and then the fourth match was the scariest. We were down 17-23 with Lindsey Owens in the back serving everyone was on the edge of their seats. Lindsey scoring point after point with her serve, she helped us win the match and the entire tournament. It was awesome! I am so incredibly proud of my team for not giving up on these close games. This team is amazing and I cannot wait to start ACC games.

This weekend we have Lipscomb, William & Mary, and Duquesne. Come out and cheer us on Friday and Saturday! Thank you for all of your support! Hope to see you all this weekend! (:

Thank You,
