BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech men’s track & field team, ranked No. 10 in the country, and the women’s track & field team will close out the regular season this weekend as they welcome a host of schools for the Virginia Tech Challenge.
The Tech men climbed back into the top 10 after a one-week hiatus. The Hokie men have five athletes ranked in the top 15 of six events. Thomas Curtin leads the way for the Hokies and is ranked nationally in the top 10 in both the 3000 and 5000. Manuel Ziegler, Patrick Joseph, Chris Uhle and Tomas Kruzliak are ranked in the top 15 of their respective events.
The women’s team currently has three athletes ranked in the top 20 of their respective events. Hanna Green and Amanda Smith are ranked No. 5 and No. 11, respectively, in the 800 while Paige Kvartunas checks in at No. 20 in the 3000.
The meet will begin Friday with the first events taking place at 5 p.m. and will conclude on Saturday with the day’s events beginning at 11 a.m.
