Hokie men ascend to No. 10 in latest USTFCCCA Rankings
Tech uses strong performances from distance runners to climb rankings

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech men's track & field team continues to climb in the rankings, moving up 12 spots from last week's No. 22 ranking, thanks to the efforts of the distance runners this past weekend at the Hilton Garden Innvitational.

Thomas Curtin, Patrick Joseph and Neil Gourley all put in quality performances to help Tech ascend in the national rankings. Curtin ranks second in the nation in the men's 3000-meter distance with an impressive time of 7:50.63. Joseph checks in at No. 2 nationally in the mile with a time of 3:57.44 while Gourley is ranked 20th in the mile with a time of 4:00.99.

Also helping Tech climb the rankings are previous top-10 performances by Chris Uhle, Manuel Ziegler and Tomas Kruzliak. Jared Allison also ranks in the top 20 in the pole vault.

The Hokies No. 10 ranking is Tech's first top-10 ranking since 2013 and makes them currently the highest nationally-ranked ACC team.

Tech will be in action this weekend at the Virginia Tech Elite Meet against some of the nation's best track & field teams.
