2017-18 Schedule

BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech Swimming and Diving announced its 2017-18 competitive schedule on Tuesday. The H20kies campaign features meets against ACC foes Duke, Florida State, UNC and Virginia, out-of-conference competition versus Ohio State and Michigan as well as the first Technotational to be held in preparation for ACC and NCAA Championships.

"We are looking forward to the upcoming season,” said head coach Ned Skinner. “We have a strong schedule to include starting a three-year rotation with Duke and Florida State. Further, the fall invite will include traditional powers Florida, and Indiana and we will get a good look at the women's NCAA site when we square off at Ohio State, with Michigan and Rutgers. The University of Virginia is always a big meet for the Hokies and we will have plenty of other challenges to prepare us for the ACC and NCAA Championships."

In celebration of the season kick-off, Virginia Tech will host an Intra- Quad meet at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center Oct. 7 beginning at 8 a.m.

The H20kies will start their competition schedule the weekend of October 13-14 at Duke with Florida State before returning home for the Virginia Tech Sprint Challenge the following weekend with Queens, VMI and Liberty.

Virginia Tech will be on the road Nov. 4 in Chapel Hill to face the Tar Heels after a year hiatus. Tech will wrap up the fall slate at the Purdue University Invitational Nov. 16-18.

The Hokies will head to Ft. Lauderdale for their annual training trip towards the end of December where they will also compete against Buffalo on Jan. 4.

Tech will host their Seniors’ and Parents’ weekend Jan. 12-13 during their first dual meet of the new year against Virginia. Last year, both the men’s and women’s team fell to the Cavaliers in Charlottesville. The loss against UVA was the first dual meet defeat of the season for the men’s team, despite strong performances from the Hokies.

Tech will get back to the spring schedule Jan. 19-20 when the Hokies travel to Ohio. On the 19th the Hokies will face Cincinnati with Xavier then travel to compete at Ohio State the following day with Rutgers and Michigan.

Virginia Tech will host the first Technotational the weekend of Feb. 2-4. The atmosphere of this invitational will be unique to the H20kies dynamic - fun, energetic and fast.

The ACC Championships will return to Greensboro, N.C. with the women lined up to compete the Feb. 14-17 and the men to swim Feb. 21-24 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

The Tech divers will have their chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships during the NCAA Zone A competition March 5-7 at Rutgers. Following this contest, the Hokies will look to round out their season at the NCAA Championships with the women’s qualifiers to compete March 14-17 at Ohio State’s McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion in Columbus, while the men conclude their season March 21-24 at Minnesota’s Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
