MOULTRIE, Ga. – H2Okie alum Logan Stevens and sophomore Ashlynn Peters turned in impressive performances at the USA Diving National Championships over the weekend where both earned finals berths in their events.
Stevens took home the bronze medal in the platform while Peters was one of 14 divers that competed in the three meter finals. Stevens also reached the finals of the men’s three meter where he placed ninth.
“I was really pleased that they reached the finals in their events,” said Virginia Tech head diving coach Ron Piemonte. “Ashlynn had a really strong performance in the semifinals and Logan had a tremendous 10 meter event finishing off with a bronze medal. They both represented Virginia Tech well at this competition.”
Stevens’ performance in the platform improved as the competition went on. He finished fifth in the quarterfinal with a score of 322.65 and then placed four in the semifinal with a 303.90. The 2015 graduate then posted a 336.45 in the finals that earned him the bronze.
Peters finished fifth in the quarterfinals with a 258.15 and placed sixth in the semis before the Cypress, Texas native scored a 246.50 in the finals.
