GREENSBORO, N.C. - Virginia Tech sophomore diver Thomas Shinholser was named the ACC Male Diver of the Week on Tuesday following his performance against Georgia Tech, Miami and UNC Wilmington over the weekend, as announced by the ACC.
Shinholser won the 3-meter diving competition after posting an NCAA qualifying score of 354.25. In the 1-meter, he placed second with an NCAA qualifying score of 363.20. He helped Tech earn a 190-110 victory over Georgia Tech and a 246-53 win over UNC Wilmington.
Last season, Shinholser captured All-American honors at the NCAA Championships after an eighth-place finish in the platform. He was also named to the All-ACC Academic team. This is his first ACC Male Diver of the Week award.
The H2Okies return to action on February 7 and 8 when they host the Virginia Tech Invitational for their last regular-season event of the year.
