H2Okies Latimer and Arnett win ACC weekly awards
Strong effort at Virginia earns notice from conference

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Two seniors from the Virginia Tech swimming & diving teams have won ACC Athlete of the Week awards following their performances against rival Virginia last weekend. Senior swimmer Morgan Latimer was named the ACC Male Swimmer of the Week, and senior diver Kaylea Arnett was named ACC Female Diver of the Week for the third time this season.

Latimer won two individual races, taking the 200 fly in 1:46.93 and the 100 fly in 48.43. The Richmond, Virginia, native also helped the 12th-ranked Hokies win four relay events: the 400 free relay, the 200 free relay, the 200 medley relay and the 400 medley relay. Overall, Latimer earned Virginia Tech a total of 73 team points en route to its 218-135 victory over the No. 21 Cavaliers.

Arnett was named ACC Female Diver of the Week after setting a new pool record with her 323.40 score in the 1-meter diving event at Virginia’s Aquatic and Fitness Center on Saturday. The Spring, Texas, native also recorded an NCAA Qualifying score of 309 in the 3-meter. Arnett has now won the ACC Diver of the Week award eight times. She has also been named the ACC Women’s Diver of the Year three times.
