H2Okie divers set to compete in University of Georgia Fall Invitational
11 ranked men's and women's teams among field

BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech men’s and women’s diving teams will compete in the University of Georgia Fall Invitational on Friday, Saturday and Sunday against some of the top teams in the nation.

The H2Okie men’s divers are part of the ninth-ranked Virginia Tech swimming & diving team, and they will be competing against No. 6 California, No. 12 Georgia, No. 19 Auburn, No. 24 Florida State, Penn State, Virginia, Harvard and UCLA.

They are led by sophomore Thomas Shinholser who has won three 3-meter diving events this year and has posted the third-highest 1-meter score in the ACC this season. Another H2Okie, freshman Mauro Castro-Silva, has the highest platform event score in the ACC this season, with Shinholser taking the second spot.

The Tech women’s divers will face their toughest competition so far this season, squaring up against No. 2 Georgia, No. 5 California, No. 6 Auburn, No. 9 Virginia, No. 15 Penn State, No. 19 UCLA, Florida State and Harvard.

Kaylea Arnett leads the women’s team with four wins in the 1-meter event and two wins in the 3-meter event. Kelli Stockton has also faired well this season in the platform event, where she currently holds the ACC’s leading score.

The competition will be held at the Gabrielsen Natatorium, Ramsey Student Center in Athens, Georgia.
