BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Tech swimming and diving teams will play host to a quartet of schools this weekend, as the H₂Okies welcome in-state rival Virginia, Wisconsin, Harvard’s men and Miami’s women to the Christiansburg Aquatic Center for a meet spanning January 17-18.

In their last time out, Tech opened their spring season with a trip to Knoxville, Tenn. to take on Tennessee and Missouri. Though the women suffered a pair of hard-fought losses to their nationally-ranked opponents, the 15th-ranked men’s team downed No. 7 Missouri, 175-125, notching the program’s first-ever win over a top-10 program.

Junior Morgan Latimer and sophomore Michal Szuba led the way for the men, taking home a pair of wins each, while freshman Jessica Hespeler paced the women with a win in the 1000 Freestyle, in addition to her win with the 400 Freestyle Relay.

Virginia enters the weekend with both the men and women ranked in the CSCAA National Polls, as the men check in at No. 18 and the women sit at No. 9. The men bring a 2-2 record with them to Christiansburg, while the women are currently 4-1.

The other teams dot the national rankings, as Harvard’s men are ranked No. 24 in the latest CSCAA Poll, while Wisconsin’s men are receiving votes. Miami, who will send its women’s team and divers from its men’s team, is the only school without a representative in the national rankings.

Competition will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday morning, before wrapping up with a session on Saturday afternoon, beginning at 1 p.m.. The H₂Okies will recognize their 12 seniors in a brief ceremony prior to Saturday afternoon’s session.
