BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Tech swimming and diving teams will kick off the spring portion of their 2013-14 seasons on Saturday, as the H2Okies travel to Knoxville, Tenn. for a meet with Tennessee and Missouri.
The H2Okie men put together a fantastic fall season in 2013, racking up a dual record of 6-1, with the only loss coming to No. 11 Ohio State. For their efforts, the men were slotted at No. 15 nationally in the latest CSCAA rankings.
On the women’s side, the H2Okies were 4-3 this fall, earning tough road wins over Pittsburgh and Cincinnati. Saturday’s meet will be both teams’ first official action since the H2Okie Fall Invitational on Nov. 21-23, 2013.
Tennessee’s men were 3-2 in the fall, but won both of their SEC contests. The women won all five of the fall contests, including victories over South Carolina and Kentucky, and are currently ranked No. 15 in the nation.
Missouri had a standout fall season in the pool, as both teams cracked the top 25: the women at No. 21 and the men at No. 7. The men, who set a new program record with their national ranking, had just one loss in the fall, a 169-130 decision to No. 3 Florida.
Events are scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. on Saturday in Knoxville. Live video and results are available at the links above.
