H2Okies play host to five teams for H2Okies Fall Invite
Tech wraps up fall schedule this weekend at home

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Tech swimming and diving teams will wrap up their fall seasons this weekend, as the H2Okies welcome five teams to the Christiansburg Aquatic Center for the 2013 H2Okie Fall Invitational on November 21-23.

Tech, which wrapped up its fall dual meet season two weeks ago against Pittsburgh and Notre Dame, will welcome William & Mary, Ohio, Liberty, South Carolina and UConn to the CAC on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

On the men’s side, the H2Okies have enjoyed a wildly successful fall season, checking in at No. 16 in the national polls this week after going 8-1 in dual events. The women have gone 7-4 this season.

Against Pittsburgh and Notre Dame, the men took home 22 top-three finishes en route to their victories over Pittsburgh (204-106) and Notre Dame (181-119). The H2Okie men moved to 3-0 against conference opponents with the wins.

The women earned 19 top-three finishes on the evening, as the H2Okies downed Pittsburgh in a dominant 202-98 performance. Tech dropped a tough 138-162 decision to Notre Dame, as well.

South Carolina comes to the CAC with the men sporting a 3-1 record, while the women are 1-3. The William & Mary men were 5-0 this year before dropping their first contest of the year at Duke on Nov. 9. The women are 4-3 this season.

UConn’s men have gone 3-0 in limited action so far, while the women are 2-1.

Liberty and Ohio will only be bringing a women’s team to this weekend’s event. The Flames are 4-4 on the year entering the weekend, having downed Vanderbilt at home before dropping a tough 152-138 loss at Richmond in their most recent contests. Ohio is 3-1 after dropping a 193.5-106.5 decision to Ohio State.

Prelims for all events will take place during the morning sessions this weekend, beginning at 10 a.m. all three mornings. The finals will then take place in the evening, starting at 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and 4 p.m. on Saturday.
