BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Tech swimming and diving teams will hit the road for the final time in their fall season this weekend, as the H2Okies head to Pittsburgh to face the Panthers and Notre Dame in a three-team meet.
Saturday’s meet, which is scheduled to begin at noon, will be both Pittsburgh and Notre Dame’s first-ever Atlantic Coast Conference contest, as it is both schools’ first year in the ACC.
Last week, both H2Okie squads notched 3-1 records in a pair of meets, as the men and women both downed Cleveland State and Denison at an Ohio State-hosted event on Friday evening before taking down Cincinnati in a dual meet on Saturday afternoon.
Tech performed at a high level throughout the weekend, led by junior diver Kaylea Arnett, who finished first in all four of her events across the two meets en route to being named the ACC Women’s Diver of the Week.
Junior Morgan Latimer was the standout for the H2Okie men on the weekend, taking top honors in four events as well.
Pittsburgh has won both events it has competed in thus far in 2013, though the Panthers have not faced an ACC squad yet. After opening its season with a victory over St. Bonaventure, Pittsburgh went on the road again for a win at Bucknell the following week.
Notre Dame is off to a 1-3 start this season, with all four opponents coming from out of the conference as well. The Irish lost to Auburn and Michigan to kick off the season, before beating Air Force on the road and losing at Purdue last week.
Saturday’s event is scheduled to begin at noon in Pittsburgh. Live stats will be available throughout the contest.
