Arnett named ACC Diver of the Week
Junior diver earns four gold medals en route to award

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Junior Kaylea Arnett of the Virginia Tech diving team was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Diver of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.

"Kaylea continues to be prolific in and out of the pool for the Hokies,” Head Coach Ned Skinner said. “She is such a spirited young lady and a fierce competitor. She is a great teammate and our team feeds off Kaylea's enthusiasm. We are proud of her and of the recognition for her performances.”

Arnett received Female Diver of the Week honors after she helped Virginia Tech complete a weekend that included three team victories and four first-place individual finishes for Arnett. On Nov. 2, the Spring, Texas native recorded scores of 305.45 and 337.20 on the one-meter and three-meter dive, respectively.

On Nov. 3, Arnett nearly bested her Saturday scores, which were of NCAA zone standard, but fell barely short. Arnett owns this season’s best one-meter score in the ACC and sits in fourth in the three-meter dive charts.

“Kaylea has had an extremely consistent start to her season for a few reasons,” Diving Coach Ron Piemonte said. “First off, she is truly an amazing diver and a fierce competitor. That, coupled with her work ethic, enthusiasm, and the love that she possesses for her sport and teammates, all make her a great student-athlete and truly deserving of this honor.”

The H2Okies will be back in action this weekend, when they travel north to Pittsburgh to take on a pair of ACC newcomers in Pittsburgh and Notre Dame on Saturday, November 9.
