H2Okies open dual meet campaign against NC State
Tech hosts Wolfpack in 1 p.m. bout

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Tech swimming and diving teams will take part in their first dual meet of the season on Saturday, as the H2Okies welcome NC State to the Christiansburg Aquatic Center for a 1 p.m. contest.

Last week, the H2Okies kicked off their season at home, as they welcome five schools to the CAC for the 2013 Virginia Tech Annual Margaret Soulen Gilbert Breast Cancer Awareness Swim/Dive Meet.

Tech put an early stamp on the season, as the men and women combined to go 5-1 against their competition, while the men made history with their first-ever dual meet victory over North Carolina.

The H2Okies dominated the diving events, as senior Ryan Hawkins and junior Kaylea Arnett combined to sweep the 1-meter and 3-meter events.

A pair of freshman also had stellar collegiate debuts, as Jan Switkowski and Maggie Gruber combined for five gold medals in the season-opener.

NC State started its season two weeks ago at the All-North Carolina Invitational, where the Wolfpack captured first-place finishes for both the men and women.

In last year’s competition, the H2Okies earned a tie on the men’s side, while the women fell to NC State, 160-140.

Events will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, beginning with the 200 Medley Relay. A complete schedule of events can be found below.

Admission to all events is free to the public.
