BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech swimming and diving program will send three divers and five swimmers, the most in program history, to the 2013 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships that begin Thursday, March 21 in Indianapolis, Ind. Competition will go through Saturday, March 23.

Tech, the 2013 ACC runner-up, will send divers Kaylea Arnett, Logan Kline and Kelli Stockton, who all scored points in last year’s National Championship. Arnett led the Tech women with 19 points at last year's championship, and she became an All-American in the platform event. The two-time ACC Champion is the No. 1 seed in the 3-meter event which is on Friday.

Joining the divers are swimmers Alyssa Bodin, Weronika Paluszek, Heather Savage, Katarina Filova and Sabrina Benson. Bodin and Paluszek will compete for the first time on the national stage, while this is the second trip for Filova, Benson and Savage.

Savage is coming off a seventh-place finish in the 100 butterfly in last year’s championship where she was named an All-American. She heads into this weekend ranked seventh in the 100 butterfly, 18th in the 200 butterfly and 40th in the 50 freestyle. She will also swim the third leg of the 200 and 400 medley relays.

Bodin and Paluszek are the only other swimmers competing individually, as they will both swim in the breaststroke events. Paluszek is ranked 31st in the 100 breaststroke and 21st in the 200 breaststroke, while Bodin is 34th in the 100 and 53rd in the 200. These two will also swim in relay events. Bodin is the second leg of the 200 medley, while Paluszek is the second leg of the 400 medley.

Benson and Filova will represent the H2Okies and lead and anchor both the 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay events, respectively. Both of the Tech relays are coming off of winning gold medals at the 2013 ACC Championships.

Last season, the H2Okies broke into the top 20 for the first time in program history, placing 18th at the NCAAs. Tech sent three swimmers and divers who captured seven All-American honors.
