GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior Adam Skipper and freshman Mackenzie Stewart of the Virginia Tech swimming and diving program have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Male and Female Swimmers of the Week, announced Tuesday by the conference office.
Skipper led the way for the H2Okie men as they hosted Towson and UNC Wilmington this past weekend at the Virginia Tech Invitational. The senior from Yorktown, Va., went undefeated in the breaststroke events with two NCAA B standard times, the firsts of his career, while posting the top time in the ACC this season in the 100 and the second best in the 200. His time of 54.67 in the 100 breaststroke was a new career best, and his 200 time of 1:59.38 was just .02 shy of breaking a school record.
Stewart also posted strong performances in the breaststroke events for Tech, going undefeated at the Virginia Tech Invitational while setting her first B standard times of the season. Stewart won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:01.89 and recorded the fourth-best time in the conference this year of 1:01.85 in the prelims. The native of Port Clinton, Ohio, was later victorious in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:05.25, ranking her sixth in the ACC. Stewart also took second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.25.
