BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech swimming and diving program will head down the road to Charlottesville, Va., to face in-state rival Virginia along with Big Ten opponent Wisconsin for a two-day dual meet starting Friday at 6 p.m. Start time for Saturday is scheduled for 9 a.m.

MEET PREVIEW -- LIVE RESULTS

LAST TIME OUT

• The Virginia Tech swimming and diving team hosted William & Mary and Miami this past Saturday at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center for Senior Day. The No. 17 H₂Okie men defeated the Tribe, 160-97, while the women swept the two teams, defeating William & Mary, 163-99, and Miami 185.5-112.5.

• Senior Zach McGinnis and sophomore Jake Ores led the men with two individual titles apiece. McGinnis took the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly, while Ores swept the distance freestyle events.

• On the women’s side, senior Heather Savage and freshman Weronika Paluszek led the way for the H₂Okies as they also took home two events each. Savage won the 100 and 200 butterfly, while Paluszek swept the breaststroke events.

SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS

• Virginia enters this weekend with only one dual loss this season, which comes from the men’s squad falling to a top-25 Indiana squad back in November. The women are undefeated throughout the dual season and come into Friday with a No. 10 ranking. Virginia’s men’s squad is ranked No. 11.

• Both squads are reigning ACC Champions. The women dominated last season’s championships, winning by over 200 points. The men’s team only outscored the H₂Okies by just 32 points to win the trophy.

• Virginia made its way to the 2012 NCAA Championships and secured top-20 spots. The women placed 17^th, just nine points more than the Tech women. The Cavalier men took 15^th at NCAAs, tallying 65 points.

SCOUTING THE BADGERS

• Wisconsin enters this weekend with the same dual records from both squads. The Badgers have recorded wins over UW-Milwaukee, UW- Green Bay, Northwestern and Michigan State, while falling to Michigan, Minnesota, Stanford, Cal and USC.

• The women return 18 letterwinners from last year’s squad that placed 15^th at the 2012 NCAA Championships. Wisconsin’s men’s squad welcomed back 12 letterwinners from 2012 who helped secure 27^th place at NCAAs.

• Wisconsin is led by Michael Weiss who just recently competed for Team USA at the 2012 FINA Short Course World Championships. He placed seventh in the 400 IM and anchored the eventual gold medal 800 medley relay team in the preliminary race.
