BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech swimming and diving program heads to North Carolina to face the Tar Heels Friday and will stop next store to battle at Duke with Florida State and UNC Wilmington Saturday. Start time for Friday is set for 5 p.m. and 11 a.m. Saturday.

• This marks the sixth meeting between Virginia Tech and North Carolina

• The H₂Okies have never beaten the Tar Heels in a dual meet

• Virginia Tech and Duke are meeting for the 10^th time in program history and the men lead the Blue Devils 6-3 and Duke leads on the women side, 4-5

• The H₂Okies face Florida State for the fifth time and the Seminoles lead both teams with a 1-4 all-time record

• UNC Wilmington has never taken a dual meet from Virginia Tech and the H₂Okies lead 5-0 in both teams

SCOUTING THE TAR HEELS

• The Tar Heels kicked off its season against Texas A&M and South Carolina on …

• North Carolina men swept the event and the women split as they fell to Texas A&M

• The women competed last weekend at the SMU Classic and captured second place

• Three Tar Heels have captured ACC honors so far in the early season

• On Oct. 16, Natalie Ritter earned Female Diver of the Week, Stephanie Peacock and Brett Nagle earned Female and Male Swimmers of the Week and Peacock earned the same honor last week also

• Last season North Carolina finished the season with a third place men’s finish and a second place women’s finish at the 2012 ACC Championships

SCOUTING THE BLUE DEVILS

• The Blue Devils kicked off their season at the All-North Carolina Invitational in Greensboro, N.C., on Oct. 5

• The Duke men placed second, while the women placed third overall

• Ben Hwang and Christine Wixted earned ACC Performers of the Week honors in Duke’s opening weekend

• Last season Duke finished the season with a ninth place women’s finish and a seventh place men’s finish at the 2012 ACC Championships

SCOUTING THE SEMINOLES

• The Seminoles kicked off the 2012-13 season at the All-Florida Invitational in Gainsville, Fla., on Sept. 30

• Florida State captured second-place finishes for the men and women at the invitational

• Since then they have beaten Florida Gulf Coast, Miami, and Florida Atlantic and FIU

• Swimmers Mark Weber and Tiffany Oliver and diver Ariel Rittenhouse have earned ACC Performer of the Week honors so far this season

• Last season Florida State finished the season with a third place women’s finish and a fourth place men’s finish at the 2012 ACC Championships

SCOUTING THE SEAHAWKS

• The Seahawks kicked off the 2012-13 season hosting Tennessee on Sept. 28 and fell to the Vols 175-118 on the men’s side and 195-99 on the women’s side

• Since then UNCW has beaten the Old Dominion men and the Emory men

• The Seahawk men won their 11^th consecutive CAA titles last season and the women took third

LAST TIME OUT

• The H₂Okies kicked off the 2012-13 season hosting Gardner-Webb, VMI and Liberty

• The Virginia Tech men captured all 17 events and the women took 12 en route to sweeping all three opponents

• Freshman Joe Bonk led the H₂Okie men with two individual titles (50 and 100 freestyles) and helped collect the 400 medley and 200 freestyle relay events

• Freshman Holly Harper led the Virginia Tech women with two individual titles (50 and 200 backstroke) and swam the first leg of the 200 medley relay to help secure first place
