Tech divers to represent the United States in the 2012 Canada Cup FINA Grand Prix
Head diving coach Ron Piemonte selected to coach at the event

BLACKSBURG, Va. – After their performances in the 2012 USA Diving Winter Nationals in December, Logan Shinholser and Ryan Hawkins of the Virginia Tech diving program have been selected to represent the United States in the 2012 Canada Cup FINA Grand Prix on May 1-6 in Montréal, Québec.

Hawkins and Shinholser will pair up to compete in the men’s 10-meter synchronized event and Shinholser will participate in the individual 10-meter event as well.

In addition to the divers, Tech’s head diving coach Ron Piemonte has been selected as one of the national team’s coaches for the competition due to having two divers in three events.

“I am very happy to see all of our hard work result in Virginia Tech athletes representing the United States in this prestigious competition,” commented Piemonte. “To have Logan and Ryan have the opportunity to compete against the top divers in the world should prove to be invaluable. I am very proud of their accomplishments and glad that they have achieved this goal.”
