Hawkins advances in 3-meter on day two of the 2012 USA Diving Winter Nationals
Five H2Okies set to compete in quarterfinals Saturday

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.Ryan Hawkins of the Virginia Tech diving program advanced to the quarterfinals in the 3-meter event of the 2012 USA Diving Winter National Championships Friday.

After qualifying for the platform event Thursday, the sophomore placed seventh in the 3-meter preliminaries to advance to the quarterfinals, which will take place on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Tomorrow Hawkins and partner Logan Shinholser will compete in the quarterfinals of the men’s synchronized 3-meter event, while Kelli Stockton, Logan Kline and Kaylea Arnett will compete in the women’s 10-meter platform quarterfinals. Kline is also competing in the semifinals of the women’s 1-meter event.
