Aquatics International magazine honors the Christiansburg Aquatic Center
13 world-class aquatics facilities will be featured in the November issue

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Aquatics International magazine is honoring 13 world-class aquatics facilities, which includes the Christiansburg Aquatic Center, home of the H2Okies in its 13th annual Best of Aquatics issue in November. Each year the publication celebrates outstanding facilities of all varieties, including government, nonprofit and privately owned operations.

"Virginia Tech is honored to be a part of such an outstanding facility,” commented Director of Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Program Ned Skinner. “The vision of Lance Terpenny, Glenn Reynolds, and Jon Jaudon was instrumental in this project becoming a reality and we are thankful to be recognized by this respected publication.”

In addition to the Christiansburg Aquatic Center, this year’s honorees include: Huntersville Family Fitness & Aquatics (Huntersville, N.C.), Silliman Activity Center (Newark, Calif.), New Holland Recreation Center (New Holland, Pa.), SwimWest Family Fitness Center (Madison, Wis.), Salisbury University, Maggs Aquatic Facility (Salisbury, Md.), Hershey Park (Hershey, Pa.), NRH20 Family Water Park (North Richland Hills, Texas), KeyLime Cove (Gurnee, Ill.), Saint Francis Medical Center Fitness Plus (Cape Girardeau, Mo.), Paradise Springs at the Gaylord Texan (Grapevine, Texas) and John Mark Stallings Accessible Playground (Hartselle, Ala.).

All honorees will be featured in a special Best of Aquatics supplement to the November issue of the magazine. An independent panel of five industry experts judged all entries, which considered factors including programming, promotional materials, aquatic amenities and community involvement.

“We received a large number of entries this year and the winners are the best of the best in the categories they represent,” said Gary Thill, Aquatics International editor. Categories include waterparks, family aquatic centers, fitness centers and hotel/resorts.
