H2Okies set 2011-12 swimming and diving schedule
Will host the 2011-12 ACC Championships

BLACKSBURG, Va. – In addition to hosting the 2011-12 ACC Championships, the H2Okies’ 2011-12 men’s and women’s swimming and diving schedule will feature six home meets and three road contests during the regular-season as announced by head coach Ned Skinner.

"This year's competitive schedule is one that we have been working towards for many years,” commented Skinner. “To have the opportunity to host the ACC Swimming and Diving Championships is something that we are taking great pride. We will be welcoming many of the top schools in our conference throughout the season in dual, double dual and quad meets.”

Tech opens its campaign hosting four consecutive meets, which include NC State and James Madison’s women’s squad on Oct. 15, North Carolina on Oct. 28 and Florida State with Duke and UNC Wilmington on Oct. 29.

“We are thrilled to showcase the beautiful Christiansburg Aquatic Center to our community and beyond,” noted Skinner. “We also have a great balance of road trips to include a quad meet with Ohio State as well as a return trip to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.”

After traveling to Columbus, Ohio, at the beginning of November to face Ohio State, Denison and Cleveland State, the H2Okies will participate in the three-day Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by conference-foe Georgia Tech on Nov. 18-20.

At the beginning of January, Tech will travel to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., to take on Buffalo, before hosting Virginia on Jan. 11. Three days later, the H2Okies will travel to William & Mary.

On Jan. 21, the H2Okies return to the Christiansburg Aquatic Center to play host to Georgia Tech and Miami’s women’s squad, while honoring the senior student-athletes for Senior’s and Parent’s Day.

After hosting the 2011-12 ACC Championships (Feb. 15-25), Tech concludes its regular season with the Virginia Tech Invitational on Feb. 4-5, which will include the likes of UNC Wilmington, James Madison and Georgia Tech.

The H2Okie divers will have a chance to qualify all season for the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships on March 9-11 in Buffalo, N.Y., before advancing to the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships later that month. The women’s championship will be held in Auburn, Ala., on March 15, while the men’s championship is in Federal Way, Wash., a week after.
