BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech Director of Athletics Jim Weaver, along with head swimming and diving coach Ned Skinner announced Thursday the hiring of Sarah Stockwell as an assistant swimming coach for the men’s and women’s programs.

Stockwell joins the H₂Okies from Indiana University, where she was a standout swimmer. While at IU, Sarah was an eight-time NCAA All American, and still holds the school records for the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke, as well as, a member of both the 200- and 400-yard individual medley relays.

In addition to coaching, Stockwell has also served as a strength and conditioning graduate assistant while earning her Master’s degree in kinesiology.

Stockwell has a very good working knowledge of all aspects of college swimming both in training and recruiting, which should prove to be extremely valuable to the H₂Okie programs.

“We are delighted to welcome Sarah into our H₂Okie family,” Skinner said. “Sarah comes highly recommended and we have been very impressed by her positive attitude and desire to help build our program to new heights. Sarah will be instrumental in the recruiting process and mentoring of our women and men swimmers and divers.”
